Transferrable Skills
Greetings,
As a child, other than tennis, Roger Federer played soccer, badminton, basketball and cricket! He credits all those sports for enhancing his tennis. But are skills really transferrable? Especially when it comes to disciplines which are not even loosely connected.
Take the case of Cody Simpson who is a singer, guitarist, songwriter, dancer, actor, author and a model. He now wants to be an Olympian swimmer!
Cody says he felt stressed before his first freestyle swim. But he delved into his past experience on Broadway and told himself, "it's going to take 130, 140 races before I can get up without fear and just do it."
There will always be some basic fundamentals which you can reach out into and utilize in the new discipline. The overriding factor always will be the desire to do something new.

Thoughts that crossed my mind, while I was reading…
Name Place Animal Thing (NPAT), a recently released book written by Lux Narayan.
Each day we get 86,400 seconds to spend. How well do we consume it? How many of us take this time for granted? The fact that a fresh set of 86,400 seconds will be handed to us again on the next day should not stop us from ensuring the best use of today's moments. Keep in mind, tomorrow is not a certainty. We are all well aware of that by now.
There is much scope to write new stories and assume new character roles but we rarely do. We refrain from stepping into unfamiliar territory and stick to what we have done always, when in fact we should be scouring for unexplored areas.
This becomes even more relevant while discussing polymaths. Lux Narayan wears so many hats, it is too long to list.
As spring approaches the sun glows and is getting perkier. Soon there will be leaves on trees and plants will start to flower. Hiroyuki captured this amazing sunset in the backdrop of Miscanthus plants.
