Haze versus Fog
Greetings,
When I mention fog in Dubai, I see many react with surprise. Deserts normally are associated with hot climates. But the fact is, fog in the middle east is a common occurrence during change of seasons.
Two air masses of different temperatures coming together, one cold and the other warm, results in fog.
When fog engulfs the city, it is spoken about a lot. But rarely do we discuss the varying levels of haze. Haze is more common and we just get used to putting up with it. But should we?
Is Haze More Hazardous Than Fog?

Thoughts that crossed my mind, while I was reading…
The Inner Game of Tennis, a classic from 1974 by W. Timothy Gallwey
There are only two things of utmost importance. Learn how to learn. Learn how to unlearn. Everything else is a subset of these.
Improper habits form and can not be totally eliminated. The best way to unlearn is create a new habit which will overpower the improper one. Once that is done, over time the improper habit will wither away.
Frustration due failure and excitement due success are both unnecessary and are only a recipe for disaster. Both positive and negative thinking inhibit spontaneity.
Why Schools Don't Educate by John Taylor Gatto
Learning gets conflated with Education. We tend to focus on education more and learning less, when it should be the other way around.
Learning leads to many avenues, while education keeps everyone on a pre-determined path. A paved path which no one dares to deviate from. When each one of us is unique, remaining glued to a path laid out for millions severely constrains our ability to be creative. We will never be able to stand out as unique individuals.
The paths available to explore are infinite and each individual should be encouraged to pursue whatever they desire. When we learn how to learn, we become our own best teachers.
Talking about fog with Hiroyuki led him to share a picture of the 'Bean' in Chicago.
On a clear day with just a few clouds in the sky, the reflection shows Hiroyuki's daughter waving at us. The official name is ‘Cloud Gate’ but because of its shape, the nickname 'Bean' has stuck. It weighs 110 tons and the exterior is made of stainless steel.
